Deadlines and Policies
Summer Registration Deadlines

Tuesday, June 20 is the last day to add an 8 week Summer Session 2 course, and the last day to submit forms to audit a Summer Session 2 course.

It is important to remember that there are many different summer deadlines (cancellation, withdrawal, credit/no credit, add/drop classes, etc.) because students may attend different sessions of the summer term. If you are considering making changes to your summer registration, please check the registration deadlines for the parts of term in which you are registered.

Writers Workshop Friday Write-a-Thon

Want to meet your writing goals in a distraction-free setting? Join your colleagues from across the disciplines to re-energize your writing practices at The Writers Workshop's Friday Write-A-Thons. Stay for as long as you'd like or join us later in the day to work on your thesis, dissertation, article, manuscript, seminar paper, etc.

We will provide coffee and light snacks; lunch is on your own. The summer dates for this event are: 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/28, 8/4.

Resumes & Cover Letters: Explaining Your Graduate-Level Experience

Wednesday, June 21, noon - 1 p.m., Lincoln Hall, Room 1000

How can you create a powerful resume for your non-academic job search? In this workshop, you will learn how to incorporate your transferable skills and customize your document to make the best impression with employers. You will also learn how to choose a resume type that will highlight your experiences and how to structure an effective cover letter. Bring a copy of your resume if you have one.

Personal and Professional Goals Statements for Fellowship Applications

Thursday, June 22, 2 - 4:00 p.m., 308 Coble Hall  


You’ve nailed the research proposal, but the application also requires a personal or professional goals statement. What are you going to write?

Dr. Karen Ruhleder, Assistant Director of External Fellowships, offers some strategies for approaching these kinds of statements. This workshop will include discussion of successful examples from a variety of fellowship competitions.

Take the Know What You Owe Challenge

According to LendEdu, the average amount of debt per graduate student is $57,600. Knowing how much you owe in student loan debt is an important part of curbing future indebtedness and managing your finances.

Take the Know What You Owe Challenge between June 19 – August 16 to review your student loan debt and for a chance to win prizes from the Student Money Management Center.

Free Statistical Consulting This Summer

Mondays through Fridays, 1-4 p.m., in room 306 of the Main Library

Through August 11, the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL), Technology Services, and the Scholarly Commons at the University Library are partnering to offer free statistical consultations. Thesis Tip
Doctoral Students: Complete Your Surveys Now!

If you are a doctoral student planning to deposit your dissertation for August graduation, get a head start by taking your exit surveys now! These surveys will only take a few minutes for you to complete, and (if you take them before you submit your document to the Thesis Office) it will make the deposit process move much more quickly. You can learn more about these surveys on the Thesis Office website. Remember – you cannot deposit your dissertation until the Thesis Office received notification that you completed these surveys.
