This twice-monthly newsletter from the Graduate College features exciting opportunities for University of Illinois graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to engage with employers. For advice on networking, applying for jobs, and more, check out our online career development resources.

Tip of the Week

Use LinkedIn's alumni tool! Use to connect with University of Illinois in a variety of fields. It's a database of every person on LinkedIn with an Illinois degree (that's almost 275,000 people!). You can search and sort by where they work, what they studied, what kind of work they do, or by keyword. So if you want to know where to find Illinois alumni in data science, you can search "data science" and start browsing. This is a great way to find people to do informational interviews with or even potential collaborators. You can reach out directly or, if you have connections in common, ask for an introduction. Feel free to come in for an individual advising appointment with Graduate College Career Development to discuss networking strategies and how to conduct informational interviews.

City of Urbana Arts Grants

The Urbana Public Arts Program offers two grant programs for local artists to grow creative projects in the Urbana community. These are a great opportunity to engage in creative work, have fun and make a difference outside the university, and find collaborators of all kinds in the community. Find out more about the grant programs here.

There is an informational workshop on Tuesday, December 5th from 5:30 to 6:30pm at the Independent Media Center (202 S. Broadway) in Urbana.
