I-CARE Workshop on request
In light of recent national interest in sexual violence and its prevention, it is imperative that we all recognize that it is on us to take a stand against sexual violence. We hope that you take the opportunity to learn about bystander intervention through a new program offered through the Women’s Resources Center called ICARE.
ICARE is a 90-minute bystander intervention workshop offered to established groups and organizations on campus. In this highly interactive workshop, students will dialogue with peers in their organization about consent and sexually disrespectful behavior, understand what helps people intervene in sexually disrespectful situations, set a group norm in which sexually disrespectful behavior is recognized as a problem and active bystander behavior is promoted, and learn a variety of intervention skills. The workshop is also highly customizable and is built specifically for group members to examine their values and how they can work together to end sexual violence.
To request an ICARE workshop, please fill out the following form: http://goo.gl/forms/jPnegDeoGG. Contact: Molly McLay at email@example.com.

Champaign County Nursing Home: Volunteers Needed
Many residents, including those in our dementia/Alzheimer’s units enjoy receiving visits from community members that can take the time to sit with them, lend a soothing hand or just sit with them. Other long term residents enjoy the company of younger individuals and, if not ambulatory, being transported outside to the courtyard to just sit and enjoy the weather and the company (when weather is permissible).
They also have recurring opportunities:
- Nail Salon Help: each Tuesday, activity assistants paint resident’s nails-need a lot of help with this as short staffed and is one of the most popular events. Every Tuesday @ 2p.m. for one hour. • Laundry Help: Volunteers would assist staff in tending to resident laundry-would not have to do any direct service with nursing home residents.
- Tuesday & Thursday game nights: activity assistants need help transporting residents to dining halls and can play games (i.e. Bingo, Ice cream socials, Musical entertainment, etc.) along with residents or help those who would need assistance.
- Assistance in our Adult Day Center; a program for individuals who come for the day that are unable to care for selves at home or be alone without someone immediately present.
