Message from Fraternity & Sorority Affairs regarding “Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day”
Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day is not an event that is sanctioned or sponsored by the university. It has, however, become a risky and unsafe day on campus. As a result, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs expects responsible behavior from all fraternity and sorority members and chapters during Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day. Chapters are not allowed to have events on March 3rd and 4th. Please take the necessary precautions to ensure the responsible behavior and safety of your members.
New Roster Deadlines For Spring
There are two deadlines for the Spring semester, first is March 1st and the final one is May 1st. By the March 1st deadline chapters need to have updated their roster with any new members and submitted corresponding New Member Rights and Grade Release Forms. We are extending the final deadline to May 1st rather than April 15th as it has been in the past. This deadline is to make any last minute changes to the roster due to a change in someone's membership status. We are able to extend this final deadline because grade release cards are now due March 1st for processing.

Save the Date! Fire Factor: April 23, 2016
A cooperative effort of the University of Illinois, the City of Champaign, the City of Urbana, and Illinois Fire Service Institute. The Fire Factor Academy teaches life safety lessons that prepare you to be Safer on Campus, Safer for Life. It is an expectation of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs that if your organization has a Certified Housing Unit on campus, that at least one member participates in Fire Factor during the calendar year (Academies are offered once per year). Attention IFC Chapters, if your chapter did not participate in the Fall 2015 Academy, then you must participate in the Spring 2016 Academy to earn IGI points.

The Illini Union Office of Volunteer Programs is accepting nominations for its annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. Each year, students, RSOs, and campus employees are recognized for their volunteer and service efforts on-campus, in the community, and around the world. Nominations are due Monday, March 7. I-CARE Workshop on request
In light of recent national interest in sexual violence and its prevention, it is imperative that we all recognize that it is on us to take a stand against sexual violence. We hope that you take the opportunity to learn about bystander intervention through a new program offered through the Women’s Resources Center called ICARE.
ICARE is a 90-minute bystander intervention workshop offered to established groups and organizations on campus. In this highly interactive workshop, students will dialogue with peers in their organization about consent and sexually disrespectful behavior, understand what helps people intervene in sexually disrespectful situations, set a group norm in which sexually disrespectful behavior is recognized as a problem and active bystander behavior is promoted, and learn a variety of intervention skills. The workshop is also highly customizable and is built specifically for group members to examine their values and how they can work together to end sexual violence.

The Counseling Center Workshops The Counseling Center at UI has been hard at work creating workshops just for sororities and fraternities! If you are interested in scheduling a workshop, or simply learning more, please fill out a request form here: http://goo.gl/forms/BTCJmuucbx
This is an interactive outreach event where small and large group discussions are co-led by one trained fraternity member and one trained Counseling Center Paraprofessional (CCP). Discussions will focus on exploring what masculinity means to that specific fraternity and the men involved by focusing on the core values unique to that fraternity and how these ideas of masculinity are put into action.
S.O.S. - Supporting our Sisters
This outreach focuses on equipping the sorority sisters with tools, skills, and resources to better support a sister that might be a survivor of sexual assault or dating violence. We will also work to identify and break down victim blaming and learn bystander intervention skills to make the sorority a safer place for survivors.
We also have other general workshops (ex. Consent, Mental Health 101, Healthy Dating, etc.) and are always up for creating unique, specialized workshops to fit the needs or interest of any sorority or fraternity! Volunteer Tutoring Opportunity:
Make a difference in a child’s life by volunteering to be a reading tutor! Come to the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club twice a week to tutor two students, one at a time, for 45 minutes apiece. You will work with a reading specialist who will provide you with the lesson plans! If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please contact Katlynne Wood at email@example.com as soon as possible. We will be starting soon!
Volunteers assist the library during weekday open hours with the following: Help shelve library materials including books, videos, DVDs, and CDs. Check library shelves to make sure library materials including books, DVDs and videos are neat and orderly on the shelf. Pull requested materials from the librarys bookshelves. Both individual and group adult volunteers are welcome. Volunteers must commit to the position for at least four months. FriendShop Bookstore: Cashier
Cashiers process all transactions for the library’s Friendshop. Retail supervisory experience a plus but not necessary. 2-4 hours per week. Adult volunteers (over 18 years) are needed Wednesday & Friday: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm; Saturday: 9:30 am - 5:30 pm; Sunday: 1 pm - 5:30 pm. Volunteers can work 3-5 hours per shift.
