You are invited to an exclusive event in the historic Hotel Allegro, which for many decades was the unofficial seat of political power in Chicago.
Join fellow alumni and friends for a fascinating afternoon. You’ll learn about the rich history of Hotel Allegro where politicians made “back room” deals, meet the new dean of the College of LAS, hear about new trends in political campaigns, and tour City Hall.
We’ll begin with a champagne reception and lunch in Hotel Allegro’s famed Walnut Room. You’ll be the first to meet the new dean of the College of LAS, Dr. Feng Sheng Hu, and have an opportunity to converse with distinguished political science professors.
After lunch, our featured speaker is alumnus Joel Weisman (BS, '63, marketing). He is the host and senior editor of Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review on WTTW Channel 11, and he'll enlighten you about political elections past and present and the influence emerging power brokers wield. Plus, you’ll have a chance to win a complimentary overnight stay including parking in the newly renovated Hotel Allegro (compliments of Kimpton Hotels).
At the end of the event, Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (BS, '11, political science) will lead a tour of Chicago’s City Hall, just a half-block walk from the hotel. You’ll visit the Council Chambers, Mayor’s Office, Alderman’ Ramirez-Rosa’s office, and more.
We hope to see you Feb. 25 for an afternoon of friendship and conversation.
