Middle Grades Major Ideal for Freshman
Education at Illinois blogger Rachel Hernandez, a freshman, came to Illinois with the intention of majoring in elementary education because of her love of literacy and language arts. But during her first semester she discovered a new major: Middle Grades Education. "I chose to concentrate in both literacy and social sciences and could not be happier with my decision," Rachel wrote in her Feb. 16 blog post. "I now have the ability to channel my passion into my profession, while working with the age group I prefer. The College of Education really does have a major that fits anyone." Read more...

Theater Company Seeking Actors for Upcoming Production

For those with an interest in theater and performance, the What You Will Shakespeare Company will hold auditions for its final production of the semester, The Comedy of Errors: an Adaptation. The show will take the classic farce and set it in a bankrupt circus that is trying to save itself by putting on Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors production. No previous acting experience is required.
