Illinois College of Applied Health Sciences

Dear AHS faculty and staff:

Hello, all! We are just a week away from the spring semester, and I'm sure you are all eager for the start of a new session. We continue to receive promising news of a vaccine rollout, and we will start to see students return to campus this week!

We are still collecting information about accomplishments and successes to publish in The Dean’s List. Be sure to submit your information. To ensure inclusion in Monday's email, we ask that you send information by 5 p.m. the previous Friday to communications@ahs.illinois.edu. Items will be reviewed and edited for style and grammar.

Cheryl Hanley-Maxwell
Dean, College of Applied Health Sciences

INNOVATION PROPOSALS

AHS is using non-recurring cash to support faculty and staff in creating plans for new, revenue-generating activities. You can download a call for proposals here. The proposal format requires a brief explanation of your idea along with the support you’ll need to develop a full proposal for your targeted idea.

PUBLICATIONS

KCH Assistant Professor Mina Raj has a new publication entitled, "Addressing Evolving Patient Concerns Around Telehealth in the COVID-19 Era" in the American Journal of Managed Care. In it, Raj and her collaborators look at how, with a rapid shift to telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians, health care organizations, and policy makers must consider and address patients’ evolving needs, concerns, and expectations.

Dean Cheryl Hanley-Maxwell is the focus of this past Sunday's Beyond the Boardroom feature in the News-Gazette. Make sure you read it!

INTRODUCING THE AHS DIGITAL INSTRUCTION GROUP

The AHS Teaching Academy established a peer support system to provide instructors across the College the opportunity to regularly interact and brainstorm ideas for teaching online. Aptly named “DIG” (courtesy of Matt Rispoli), the Digital Instruction Group meets weekly for an informal coffee hour on Thursdays at 11 a.m. So far they have discussed best practices in using Zoom, taken deep dives into assessment strategies, shared some hits and misses in teaching, and much more. If you’re interested in joining them next semester, contact Sara Shrader or Amy Woods, or email elearning@ahs.illinois.edu.

The Dean's List is delivered on Monday. To ensure inclusion of your announcement, submit information by 5 pm the previous Friday. Please submit your announcements or calendar items to communications@ahs.illinois.edu. Items will be reviewed and edited for style and grammar.
