Currently, there are 24 different information sciences/informatics-focused undergraduate research projects that faculty are looking for students to work on remotely this fall! These are not paid positions, but you will be able to sign up for INFO 399 Independent Study credit (if you have earned 60 or more hours; students with less than 60 hours will sign up for INFO 199 credit).

Count Towards IS Degree: Students in BSIS may count one independent study (199/399) or one practicum (IS 249- starting Spring 2021) for one of the 100-200 level IS elective courses (please work with your IS advisor to receive approval).

Please read through all opportunities carefully, and pay attention to any prerequisite skills or knowledge needed. **Generally, students should have completed at least one semester of college prior to applying and have taken IS coursework on campus.**

In order to apply for any of these research positions please fill out the online form: https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/6308987

You may only apply for ONE project, so please choose carefully.  Please note that you also need to upload a current resume as part of the application process (pdf format only please).

If you have questions, please contact Karin Readel.

***Applications are due by 5 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2020!***

Once the closing deadline has passed, applications will be forwarded to the project leads for further evaluation and to determine who to interview and choose for their project.  The goal is to bring students on board as soon as possible and to make sure that students get registered by the 10th day of the semester. Please do not contact the project leaders/faculty directly. Applications should be submitted using the form.

Additional opportunities will be emailed to students when available. Please visit our new BSIS Research Page for updated information.
