Direction for Checks and Currency Deposits to UIF

As we quickly approach the last quarter of the calendar year, we want to remind departments and colleagues that all checks should continue to be directed to the UIF Lockbox in Chicago to the extent possible.  Please complete one gift transmittal for each check on hand using the following link https://online.uif.uillinois.edu/pages/forms and send the gift transmittal along with the check to the Foundation’s lockbox address listed below.

Donors who would like to make a gift by check, should continue to direct their payment to the Foundation’s lockbox according to their preferred mailing method:

Upcoming Idea Sharing Sessions

Do you have an idea that you think could make your role easier or more effective? We want to see ideas come to life here that lead the advancement industry. Please join us for an upcoming one-hour Sparks of Genius session or What’s the (big) UIDEA workshop for some idea-generating and idea-sharing fun.

Sparks of Genius sessions are part presentation, part brainstorming and can help spark new ideas in advancement around specific topics.

What’s the (big) UIDEA workshops are open discussions about ideas you have, ideas your colleagues may have, and how those ideas might be implemented here or funded through UIDEA.

Sparks of Genius and What’s the (big) UIDEA workshop attendees will also have early access to Advancement Futures, an digital advancement idea-sharing/upvoting/discussing space.

Scholarship Recipient Project

The Foundation (UIF) has engaged campus partners in the Vice Chancellors for Advancement, Registrars, and Financial Aid offices to understand how information on scholarship recipients can be loaded into TED and other UIF systems in compliance with the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other federal laws and regulations governing scholarship data.  Urbana Campus leadership has recently approved the sharing of need-based scholarship recipient information with donors, and the UIF has initiated discussions on establishing a regular, automated load of scholarship recipient information from University systems into TED, as well as clarification of policies regarding the sharing of scholarship recipient information with donors to Chicago and Springfield.  TED users at all three locations can resume loading scholarship recipient information as they have in the past as those discussions continue.  Further information on this topic will be shared in the Advancement Insider as it becomes available.

 
     
 
Committees in TED

As part of the November release there will be useful updates made to the functionality of the committee module in TED.  These updated features include:

  • On the Individual Record, Relationships Tab, Committees Subtab, connected Committees and Subcommittees will be grouped together in a tree structure providing clarity around what committees exists as child committees under parent committees.
 
 
 
 
  • On the Members Tab, under details of a member, the groups area will display any subcommittees, or child committees of a parent committee the individual is a member of.

 
 
 
 
  • Interactions can be added on the Committee’s Documentation and Interactions Tab. These also appear on the individual member’s record if they are chosen as participants within the interaction. The Committee Subtab will now only surface documentation and interactions added for the committee, as opposed to every interaction from each member’s record.

 
 
 
     
 
 
 
Student/Grad Load Dates:

The 2021 Summer Graduate and Fall Student data files have been loaded into TED.
Mid-Fall Student Cohort Load File will be received 10/25/2021 and updated by 11/1/2021 in TED.

October Faculty Staff data has been loaded into the University Appointments area under the Relationships tab in TED. 

Monthly Faculty Staff data is pulled from Banner on the 10th and loaded into TED on the 3rd weekend of each month.

Prospect Status and Capacity Ratings Explained!


The Prospect Status displayed in the “Prospect Summary” tile of the TED record is an indicator of the household’s estimated total philanthropic giving capacity (to all institutions) over five years.

RPM uses six methods to estimate giving capacity. Capacity rating methods have varying levels of confidence, depending on availability of data and the constituent’s stage in the fundraising cycle. The capacity estimate that populates the Prospect Status reflects the capacity estimation with the highest confidence that has been calculated for that constituent.

This session provides a detailed overview of the UI and UIF endowment policies and fundamental administration of endowment gift funds.
We recommend that development/advancement officers, support staff, administrative assistants, business managers, or any other person involved in the solicitation or administration of endowments take this course.

We recommend taking the “Endowment Basics” course on iLearn prior to attending this session.

Pipeline-opoly

In partnership with the U of I Universities, UIF staff will lead a panel discussion around various Prospect Management concepts.

We recommend all fundraisers and their staff take this course after completing the “Updating Prospect & Plan Records in TED” or “Reading Prospect Records in TED” curriculum. In order to enroll in this ILC you must enroll in one of those curricula. We recommend the first to fundraisers, and the second to those who will be using prospect records less often.
