LIBRARY TIP OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER
The Media Commons at Illinois
At the Media Commons in the Undergraduate Library, you and/or your students can:
- borrow over 100 different loanable technology items, such as digital still and video cameras, portable projectors, laptops, digital voice recorders, audio and video production kits, and everyday items needed for media projects;
- work with consultants to create and edit media in one of our production studios;
- use high-end media editing software and learn tips and best practices for media production; and
- participate in training and workshops related to media and technology.
The Media Commons provides users opportunities to experiment with emerging technologies, with expanded opportunities to learn of best practices in educational technology. In addition to a robust loanable technology program, the Media Commons is a service space that offers users the ability to create, disseminate, use, and curate digital media. The goal is to meet the need for broad access to media creation tools, information technology training in multimedia hardware and software, and instruction in media literacy.
The Media Commons is funded in part by the student Library/IT Fee.
