Alumni Agora returns April 13

Remember wondering what’s after high school?

More than 300 Uni students are wondering the same thing!

Uni is hosting Alumni Agora classes the afternoon of April 13, 2018 for alumni to share their after-Uni experiences with current students.

Your 35-minute presentation about the most interesting part of your post-Uni life can be on any topic and include anything you want - video, photos and hands-on activities are just a few of the possibilities.

While you are welcome to share your academic and job experiences, Uni students are just like you remember – interested in everything! Share your passions, your projects and your advice about life - we value our grads and all of their experiences.

For more information and to register as a presenter, please visit https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/2710949

Potential tax implications for end-of-year donations

Don’t forget to make your donation to Uni High before the New Year.  The UI Foundation has prepared a document about how pending tax law might affect charitable giving in the future. Other questions can be directed to Marianne Downey (downey1@illinois.edu.)

Remembering Elizabeth Beberman

We regret to announce that Elizabeth Beberman, wife of legendary Uni teacher Max Beberman, passed away Dec. 18.  She was the mother of five Uni grads: John ’66, Alice ’69, Martin ’71, Ruth ’73, and Mary '76. There will be a private family service this week and a public memorial service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Uni High via the Max Beberman Memorial Award Fund.

Nominations accepted for Beberman Award

The Max Beberman Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed on an alum. The award was founded in 1985 to recognize alumni who have enhanced the reputation of the school by distinguishing themselves in their careers and have made significant contributions to their community, state and nation through professional service, public service and civic activities, or in their service to Uni High.  The nomination form and more information is available online.

Uni campaign receives new gift, adds additional priorities

Liu Family Trust Award

Hoyuan and Mei Liu are parents of Uni alumni Lynn, Ann, and Albert. Hoyuan and Mei have established the Liu Family Trust Award in gratitude for the excellent educational experience their children received at Uni High.  A $2,000 award will be made to the Student of the Year award recipient each year.

New funding priority

As the Campaign For Illinois progresses, Uni has identified the Kenney Gym floor and other Kenney gym updates as a new fund-raising priority.  The administration reports that a recent year-long Shedd review determined that while the P.E. program at Uni continues to be outstanding, the facilities need to be updated for the continued saftey of our students. Please contact Marianne Downey (downey1@illinois.edu) about giving opportunities to support this initiative.
