Happy February Secretariat members! I’m sure by now you are all very busy with the start of a new semester. The Secretariat Committees are busy as well as you’ll see below.

I first want to point you to the results of the survey completed by you in December. If you have any questions or comments about the survey please do not hesitate to contact me. The Executive Board and committees are using this information to make sure we meet your needs.

Did you know that The Secretariat turns 70 in October 2018? Please consider serving on the planning committee for this event. Planning should start this spring and will wrap up once the event is concluded, so the time commitment will be short but promises to be very rewarding. This will be a fun way to help celebrate The Secretariat, learn the history of the organization, and realize everything it’s had to offer over the years. If you’d like to serve on the committee please contact me.

The Nominations/Elections Committee is seeking nominations for elected officers to serve during the 2018-2019 term. Please nominate yourself or someone else to serve in these very important roles. What a great way to serve the organization and grow professionally!

The Programs & Events Committee has scheduled a great learning opportunity for all of us this month. Please join us as Jason Bane provides an overview of My-UI-Financial System and Benefits. You will also see below that the March program includes an overview of Nontraditional Degree Programs. If you’re considering going back to school to further your education this is a program that you won’t want to miss.

Speaking of Nontraditional Degree Programs…last month, I asked for members to let me know if they are continuing their education so that we could recognize their hard work. We have several members who are currently working towards degrees:

  • Andrea Fain, EdM, Education, Policy, Organization & Leadership in Higher Education, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
  • Michael Foellmer, EdM, Education, Policy, Organization & Leadership in Higher Education, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
  • Crystal Hahnstadt, BA, General Studies, Eastern Illinois University
  • Debbie Schoonover, BA, General Studies, Eastern Illinois University
  • Katie Wax, BA, General Studies, Eastern Illinois University
  • Angie Wisehart, BS, Organizational & Professional Development, Eastern Illinois University

Good luck to each of you as you work towards completing this achievement!

I look forward to seeing you at our February event!

Angie Wisehart

Elected Officers hold seats on the Executive Board, and help shape the organization through programs and initiatives such as our Philanthropy and Career Connection activities."-Lezli Cline
