Message from the President
Hello fellow Illinois Administrative Professionals members! I am so thrilled to be writing to you for the first time in my role as President of our newly named organization! We will have many exciting changes coming and I can’t wait to share them all with you so please be sure to read our newsletters every month. The Executive Board will work hard to embrace our future and pay respect to our past while continuing to bring excellent professional learning sessions, establish more mentoring relationships, and continue our great social activities. If you are thinking about joining the leadership team of our organization as a committee member or chair, what better time than now—in our first year as Illinois Administrative Professionals! Two special notes: CONGRATULATIONS to Colleen Hammel, our Secretariat Member of the Year who was recognized at last month’s meeting! Please join me in congratulating and thanking Colleen for her accomplishments and contributions to our organization over the past year. Secondly, a special THANK YOU to our past president, Angie Wisehart, for her incredible work during last year’s term. She has been an incredibly valuable member of our team and we will miss her at the helm! Fortunately, we are lucky to be able to continue working with her as she joins the membership and mentoring committee as a co-chair. I am certain we will have an exciting year ahead as we continue developing the many efforts Angie set forth in her short year as president. Please join me in thanking Angie for all of her fantastic work!
I look forward to seeing you all very soon at our next luncheon!

70th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee

The 70th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee is seeking items to raffle or auction at a future Career Connections luncheon meeting in order to raise funds for the celebration event to be held later this year.

IT’S TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES! If you are a current member please remember to renew your membership. Dues are to be paid no later than August 1st. New members may join the organization by paying their dues at the same link, so please forward this newsletter to your colleagues to share all of the exciting things that we are doing and encourage them to sign up today!
Don’t forget that one way to entice a colleague to become a member is to invite them to attend a Career Connections event as your guest. This is a great way to see firsthand what we’re all about.
WE WANT TO KEEP YOU CONNECTED! Have you or a colleague received a promotion or moved to a new office? Are you continuing your education here on campus, EIU, Parkland or elsewhere? Please let Jill Ouellette know and she will share that information in the next newsletter. Our goal is to make as many connections as possible to ensure you are successful in whatever it is that you are doing!
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MENTOR OR MENTEE? We are currently in the process of enhancing the mentoring program. Efforts are being made to make sure that the mentor/mentee relationships will be successful. This includes future luncheons, seminars, and resources that will be made available to all involved. Watch for additional information, as well as, requests for mentee/mentors in late summer/early fall.
Please remember to let us know if you are planning to retire soon so that you can be a Secretariat retiree member! We will miss you very much, but we hope that you’ll come back for a visit!
