COVID Meeting Resources: 

  Horse Sense

Join "Horse Sense" Horse Bowl and Hippology Team

Meetings will alternate between Lazy K Ranch - Horse Farm and the Extension office. 

HORSE SENSE is the study group that gathers to study for Horse Bowl and Hippology.

  • Anyone is welcome to drop in to study or give horse bowl and hippology a try.
  • Study groups will be split between junior (ages 8-13) and senior (14-19).
  • Topics covered may include: horse anatomy and physiology, diseases, evolution, behavior, nutrition, breeds, tack and equine activities.
  • Teaching may include hands-on, question and answer, multiple choice tests, slide identification, etc.
  • Study sessions will help prepare youth for horse bowl and hippology competition.
  • Independent study will also be recommended. 

You DO NOT need a horse to participate!

2020-2021 McHenry County 4-H Awards Recognition

Despite the obstacles this year, we could NOT let all the AMAZING achievements of our 4-H youth go by without celebrating! Thank you to those that picked up their awards on October 23 and celebrated with us in person!

4-H Recognition Awards include: 4-H Experience, Alumni, Project records, and more

Volunteer Leaders reaching milestone anniversaries were also be recognized for their dedication and service to the 4-H program.

“Start Seeing Farmers”  

“Start Seeing Farmers”

McHenry County Farm Bureau’s Young Leaders Committee is holding a just-in-time-for-Christmas T-Shirt and Hoodie fundraiser. The “Start Seeing Farmers” items feature the Young Leader’s brand new logo and a tractor with an SMV sign. The writing on the back of the shirt reads “Caution, Slow Down, Share The Road.” You can also customize your shirt with your own farm name.

Order and payment to McHenry County Farm Bureau Foundation is due by Nov. 19 for a mid-December arrival. The pick-up location will be the McHenry County Farm Bureau Building located at 1102 McConnell Road, Woodstock, IL 60098.

McHenry County Farm Bureau is having their annual Christmas Fruit & Citrus sale for members.  Non-Members are also invited to participate in the program but will be asked to add an additional $2 per-box charge.  Orders and payment are due by Nov 18.  McHenry County Farm Bureau will contact you about the pickup dates and location.  Anticipated pick-up date will be sometime between Dec 9-17.

The McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation seeks new members to join us! No experience necessary. Just a willingness to work alongside other like minded individuals that believe in supporting their local 4-H program. Foundation fundraising proceeds are used in a variety of ways to help the McHenry County 4-H organization.

The Foundation's Annual meeting followed by quarterly meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 19 at 7 pm at the Extension office. You are invited to come and see what we’re all about!
