Kim Gudeman, ITI

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has received a contract from the National Security Agency to lead an effort that will deepen the scientific understanding of the design of trusted systems. Illinois is one of six research institutions to receive funding for a “Lablet” that will conduct foundational security and privacy work over the next five years.

Around CSL
Check out the latest (and last) #WomenInCSL video feature: Research Assistant Prof. Suma Bhat is an outstanding example of someone who knows the impact STEM careers can have on society. She describes her work as being an "engineer with words," and her research aims to help machines better understand written human language. She wants to use algorithms to better society, like catching cyber-bullying. Watch the video here.

The Center for Cognitive Computing Systems Research (C3SR) is an IBM-Illinois partnership. Together, we are working on solutions that will help accelerate innovation in the world of cognitive computing. At its core, a cognitive computing system helps people to be more productive. AI has been transformed into a business solution by harnessing the power of massive data sets.

Check out this infographic that shows how efforts across 3 crucial layers of hardware and software is working in unison to change the future of AI!
