September 2018 Newsletter Issue |
Breaking News..... Did you notice the new Illinois Administrative Professionals (IAP) logo on the newsletter? Did you like it? The Rebranding Committee is excited to announce Lorraine Graham’s submission for the new logo was chosen by the Executive Board. She created a couple versions of the logo that can be used for various items. The formal can be used for letterhead or stationary at the bottom of emails and the informal can be used when just a brief intro is necessary. If you would like more information on how to use the new branding contact Andrea Fain afain@illinois.edu or Leta Summers lsummers@illinois.edu.
The Rebranding Committee would also like to thank each person who submitted their version of a new logo for Illinois Administrative Professionals. We received several submissions, making it all the more challenging for us during the selection process. Thank you for all you do to make this a great organization! |

Message from the President Michael Foellmer What an exciting time it is on campus! I don’t know about you, but the excitement of a new freshman class always reinvigorates me for a new learning adventure in the year ahead—what better way to celebrate than with our new logo! I can hardly wait to see the materials that will show off our new look! And speaking of learning, we have a great opportunity for you to become a mentor or mentee (or both!) so be sure to fill out the form before the deadline.
Are you looking for new spaces to host meetings on campus or just want to know more about the Electrical and Computer Engineering facility? Be sure to come to this month’s Career Connections luncheon where you can learn all about their beautiful building and the spaces they have to offer. It’s definitely an opportunity you won’t want to miss—and for all you North-Campus folks, we can’t wait to see you there.
Lastly, be sure to check out the Philanthropy’s notice below—we will once again have mums for sale, and this year for as little as $5! Fill up your porch with colors this fall and support our mission to make a difference in our community.
As always thank you for all you do for IAP and best wishes for a fun-filled new year!
Best, Michael Foellmer President |

Membership:Information, Connections and Celebrations Jill Ouellette & Angie Wisehart, Co-Chairs WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:
ARE YOU READY TO REAP THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A MENTOR OR A MENTEE? Caterpillar learned after implementing their own mentoring program that the biggest benefits for both the mentors and mentees were learning from each other and collaborating with one another (5 Corporate Mentorship Programs Worth Imitating). It’s not simply just a one-way relationship. It doesn’t matter how much or how little experience you have; there is always room to grow, both professionally and personally, with the opportunity to develop friendships along the way. If you’re interested in becoming either a mentor or mentee complete this form by Friday, Sept. 28. In early October we will work with you to make the best matches possible. We will plan a special meet & greet shortly thereafter that will include a speaker to discuss what it means to be a mentor and mentee, provide resource tools, and discuss expectations (including your expectations of our committee). You may also visit our webpage to find the full document describing the mentoring program.
DON'T FORGET TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES! If you are a current member please remember to renew your membership. Dues were to be paid no later than August 1st. New members may join the organization by paying their dues at the same link, so please forward this newsletter to your colleagues to share all of the exciting things that we are doing and encourage them to sign up today!
WE WANT TO KEEP YOU CONNECTED! Have you or a colleague received a promotion or moved to a new office? Are you continuing your education here on campus, EIU, Parkland or elsewhere? Are you serving on any campuswide committees? Please let Jill Ouellette know and she will share that information in the next newsletter. Our goal is to make as many connections as possible to ensure you are successful in whatever it is that you are doing!
Please remember to let us know if you are planning to retire soon so that you can be an honorary IAP retiree member! We will miss you very much, but we hope that you’ll come back for a visit!
