We are about to kickoff a fall semester like no other and while I’m sure things feel different in so many ways, one thing remains unchanged – you are part of an I-Promise Family that is here for you every step of the way! Over 300 new scholars are joining us this fall and we will once again have over 1,200 I-Promise Scholars enrolled, in-person and online.
We took a close look at the survey feedback you provided about your I-Promise experience last spring and your hopes and vision for I-Promise during the 2020-2021 school year. Together with our student leaders in the I-Promise Council, we have drafted a plan for events and activities that will keep you safely involved in our thriving scholarship community. Please stay connected with us. Whether it’s through our mentoring program, social and service events, or serving on our I-Promise Council, there are countless ways to become actively involved with I-Promise. Please be sure to read through all the I-Promise emails and newsletters you receive throughout the year so you never miss out on important information or opportunities.
We have missed seeing you on campus! And we look forward to what’s ahead. Please reach out to your Promise Coach any time for any reason. Call 217-333-4710 or email for an appointment any time; more details below.
See you soon!

Connect with your Promise Coach!
Our central goal is to support you throughout your Illinois undergraduate experience. With that in mind, every I-Promise Scholar has an assigned Promise Coach, a member of our team who is responsible for providing the encouragement, tools, and advocacy that you need to succeed at Illinois and beyond.
Scholars often connect with their coach when navigating experiences and decisions such as:
- Academics: difficulty in courses, stopping out for a semester, taking summer classes, changing majors
- Finances: on and off campus housing and meal plan selections, getting textbooks, on and off campus employment, money management
- Co-curricular activities: studying abroad, becoming an RA, building a network, preparing for graduate school
- Personal: challenges at home or with friends, time or stress management concerns, or any other matters that seem to be impacting academic performance or focus
Be sure to reach out to your Promise Coach early and often. Please note: If you are a returning scholar who has previously worked with a Promise Coach and your last name no longer falls within their roster assignment, you are welcome to request and meet with your former Coach.
