Will you publish or submit a proposal in the near future? Consider getting an ORCID identifier to distinguish yourself from the rest of the crowd!

What is it and why is it important for researchers?

✓  A unique, persistent identifier that links you to your research
✓  Used by more than 5 million scholars
✓  Makes it easier for others to cite and ensure your hard work is correctly attributed to you
✓  Helps to eliminate confusion over researchers with similar names
✓  Potentially prevents others from claiming your work as their own
✓  Some publishers & funders require an ORCID identifier at manuscript or proposal submission

Including your ID with your article, grant proposal, or even conference registration can help to keep your online scholarly profile up-to-date with your research activity and accomplishments.

* If you already have an ORCID, make sure the affiliation field is current.*

☝ Tenure-system faculty can apply for an ORCID identifier by logging into their Illinois Experts profile (further details available here)

☝ Other campus researchers (including students, postdocs, and specialized faculty) can register for an ORCID identifier directly with ORCID (more information is available in the Library’s ORCID LibGuide)
