We wanted to reach out again with additional information about registration options and fee assessments for Fall 2020:
In Absentia Registration
In an earlier message this week, we indicated that Fall 2020 international admits enrolling remotely would have the In Absentia attribute added to their records by September 1. However, as we have heard from many graduate programs about students now wanting to try and arrive late for Fall, we are waiting to finalize this list with the Registrar’s office until after the 10th day of classes. Students on this list can expect to have campus fees (excluding the General Fee) credited to their account mid-September. Again, we invite you to review the below lists in Slate to make sure all new international admits are coded correctly:
Please email our office by September 4 with any changes. As a reminder, students with the In Absentia attribute are not eligible for student health insurance. If any student listed as enrolling remotely would like to have health insurance, you must let us know prior to September 4.
Fall 2020 domestic admits and continuing domestic and international students wishing to register in absentia will need to submit the In Absentia Request Form to the Graduate College online by end of business day on September 4.
Online Enrollment and Campus Fees
Students not designated as In Absentia, but registered in all online classes will be assessed only the General Fee, Library & Information Technology Fee, Health Service Fee and Health Insurance Fee (assessment based on total enrolled hours). The Health Service Fee will be credited for students located outside the Champaign-Urbana area mid-September. Students enrolled in fully online programs will not be assessed any campus fees and are not eligible for student health insurance. Additional fee information is available on the Registrar’s website.
Auditing a Course
For the Fall 2020 semester, students will only be permitted to audit online sections of courses. On-campus sections are not available for audit as the campus is trying to reduce the number of students in individual classrooms to help with social distancing. Audit requests can be submitted online to the Graduate College through September 4.
