CIRI research highlighted at Smart Cities Caucus for Hurricane Resilience

CIRI's Gabe Weaver demoed his port security tool at the DHS Science and Technology Directorate Smart Cities Caucus: Building Community Resilience During Hurricane Season last week on Capitol Hill. The tool allows port operators to model cargo flows through a shipping port, then use the model to introduce a wide range of cyber and/or physical disruptions that could interfere with port activity, and to assess the impact of the disruption in terms of flows and economic losses. The caucus aimed to highlight how new technology can support hurricane resilience and save lives.

Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity career webinar

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recognizes the serious nature of the cybersecurity challenges, and has compelling cybersecurity missions that draw candidates seeking to join a team that makes a difference to secure cyberspace. Now more than ever, DHS must recruit, develop, and retain a talented and diverse cybersecurity workforce.

As part of this focus, DHS will host a DHS Cybersecurity Webinar. The webinar will provide information on cyber missions, cyber career opportunities, and the federal hiring and application process.  Participating DHS Components include: Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Office of Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
