Students having fun at Japanese Conversation Hour

Dear Faculty, Lecturers and TAs,

NEW:  LCLC PEER TUTORING IN FRENCH, GERMAN, ITALIAN: LCLC is happy to announce a new free peer tutoring program for students in French, German, and Italian BLP courses.  Encourage your BLP students to come to the free tutoring in Grant Hall 305. A teaching with technology tip of the week: 

Instant voice recorder VOCAROO. An extremely easy and user-friendly website/application for quick recording of audio. No account or log-in necessary - just go to the website, click to record your voice, copy the link with your recording and paste anywhere. Perfect for exams, audio homework, and other projects or assignments with audio recordings. 

UIC LCLC social media! Encourage your students and colleagues to check out the UIC Language and Culture Learning Center Facebook page and Instagram and Twitter feeds. Stay up-to-date with LCLC happenings. Promoting our pages is a good way to ensure your students know about your conversation hour or film series.

Weekly Workshop: Edit Videos in a Snap! Do you want to make, or have your students make a short video? make clips from a longer movie? add text to an existing video? This week's workshop on basic video editing will introduce you to simple video editing with iMovie, WeVideo, or Moovly. All of these programs are FREE and are designed for beginners, and most don't even require you to download a program!

This Week's Featured Chicago-Area Cultural Event

 Polonia Goes to War - NOW through March 10th 2019
November 11th 2018 marked the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I and the Centennial of Poland’s regained independence. The ongoing exhibit Polonia Goes to War examines the actions of Polonian organizations as well as Polish-American soldiers in the United States Army and Polish volunteers serving in the French-organized Blue Army during the early 1900's through 1923. Uniforms, posters, drawings, photographs, documents, and rare film footage will shine the light on this chapter of Polish-American history.

 Welcoming Refugees : Lessons of the European Crisis from a French Perspective - TUESDAY, November 27, 6:30PM
Part of the Marrianne Midwest Series. The speakers discuss a contemporary global topic followed by a question and answer session with the audience and partner locations. Through this series of debates, mutual representations between the United States and France are challenged and re-evaluated.
The talk will be streamed live at the Alliance Française! You will be able to watch it from their comfortable auditorium AND to ask questions: just like being there!
