Bromley Hall is partnering with Toys for Tots this year to help bring holiday cheer to those in need in our community. Please consider donating this year to help brighten the day of someone in need!
Join Bromley Hall and the Illini Chabad December 2nd through December 9th from 5:00-7:00pm to help celebrate Chanukah. Events include Menorah lightings every night of the celebration as well as a Chanukah party on December 6th!
Join Presby Hall and McKinley Foundation for a showing of the film Joyeux Noel on December 12th at 7:00pm!
With the advent of World War I, Europe is thrown into brutal and vicious chaos as men are forced to kill or be killed. While blood soaks the battlefield as Christmas approaches, the men in the trenches of the Western Front face a transformation, however fleeting, toward peace and goodwill. Against all odds, four unlikely individuals from opposing sides bond during this bloodless respite to experience the hope and goodness in humanity. Joyeux Noel is based on the true story of three armies in the bloody trenches of World War I and the miraculous Christmas Eve truce they unexpectedly forge.
Stay for the post-screening community conversation, which will center around freedom from fear and freedom to worship!
The team at the Siebel Center for Design is working on a project to make UIUC a "smart" campus. Or, a smarter campus, at least, considering we're pretty dang smart to begin with! If you are currently a freshman, scan the QR code to the left or visit https://s.surveyplanet.com/Qr4KJU6-6 to arrange for an hour long interview between now and December 10th. Participants can expect to answer general questions about their UofI freshman experience and provide feedback on Smart Phone App concepts. Bonus: All participants will be compensated with a $5 Starbucks Gift Card!
Look for a donation bucket at your PCH facility from now until December 13th and help us fight hunger this holiday season by donating your spare change to those in need! All contributions will go directly to Illini Fighting Hunger, a Registered Student Organization dedicated to supporting local and international hunger relief efforts through hunger-fighting service projects, including meal-packaging events.
KEEP CALM WITH MCKINLEY THIS DECEMBER
Between classes, social commitments, homework, exams, part-time jobs...and trying to find time somewhere in the middle of all of that to squeeze in eating and sleeping...being a student can be hectic and sometimes stressful. McKinley Health to the rescue! Join McKinley and their awesome co-sponsors this month as they help you de-stress and learn to put some of the focus back on you. A perfect way to unwind before heading home for Winter Break!
From 7:00-8:00pm on December 10th, join the McKinley Stress Management Peers and the Undergrad Library for Mindful Monday! Participants will be led through a relaxation technique that may include deep breathing, guided imagery, and/or progressive muscle relaxation.
From 5:00-7:00pm on December 12th, join McKinley Health Center and the Center for Academic Resources in Engineering on the 4th Floor of Grainger Library to meet one of McKinley's dieticians and learn how to make nutrition a priority (even with all of the hectic demands of being a student). Bonus: You get to make your own trail mix, too!
National Gingerbread House Day is observed annually on December 12th. Not only is gingerbread delicious AND the perfect holiday cookie treat, it's fun to play with, too! Grab a premade kit or go for broke and DIY with a recipe like this one. Either way, post your creations to social media using the hashtag #GingerbreadHouseDay when you're done!
