Revolutionizing Undergraduate Bioengineering Education
With support from a $2M grant from the NSF's Revolutionizing Engineering Department program, the Department of Bioengineering has refocused its curriculum around clinical needs. This new curriculum accommodates students’ interests, while giving them the core technical content for transferrable skills, and is organized around grand challenges in medicine like cancer. Sophomore Monika Kizerwetter, an Illinois Cancer Scholar, is one of the first students involved in the new curriculum. Learn more about both the program and her experiences here.

Involve a Cancer Research Advocate in Your Proposals
A cancer research advocate provides critical insight from a patient’s experience. This perspective helps inform impact statements, significance sections, and lay abstracts. Advocates can also help promote research to the local community and private foundations. Additionally, many funding agencies either require or highly recommend including an advocate on your research team. The Cancer Research Advocacy Group is ready to help. Please contact us to have a research advocate join your team.
