January 2019 Newsletter Issue-Happy New Year
Message from the President
Michael Foellmer

Hello and Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and refreshing winter break! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for another semester and look forward to seeing our students back and in action. It feels like it’s been a while since I last wrote you, perhaps because we’ve had so much excitement happening at the Illinois Administrative Professionals. From the wonderful celebration of our 70th Anniversary to helping families at Christmas, I want to thank you all for being such active members of our organization and making a difference in our community. A special thanks to our 70th Anniversary planning committee for creating such a fun get-together before the holidays.

I’m excited for our first Career Connections luncheon of 2019 where we will hear from SURS. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about your retirement planning options and even gain some resources to help the new employees in your office.

I look forward to seeing you again soon and wish you all the best at the start of the new semester!

A Special Thank You!

The family received many nice gifts including sweatshirts, shirts, hats & gloves as well as a basketball, remote control car, and Legos!  I am sure the favorite gift for the family will be the Play Station 4 game with 2 games and 2 controllers.  The mother was blessed with a gift card to Target, Walmart and Bath & Body works as well as a nice warm blanket and socks.

The gifts were delivered on 12.20.18.   Thank you ALL for the VERY generous contributions! It was very heartwarming to deliver these gifts on behalf of the Illinois Administrative Professionals.

Special Angels at the Salvation Army Toy Shop

This Christmas Season the Salvation Army Toy Shop saw an average of 280 clients a day between December 17th and 21st. With the assistance of an average of 40 volunteers each day (Monday through Friday), volunteers greeted and escorted clients, counseled and prayed with clients (upon request), and sorted and stocked toys. It would not have been possible to assist those in need without these very Special Angels and among those who volunteered were some of our very own IAP Angels: Amy Cain, Jessica (& Rob) Dalhaus, Teresa Harvey, Barb Bennett, Deb McCall, & Jim McGraw. (missing from the pic is Amy & Jim – they volunteered on Tuesday and were Amazing too!)
Thanks to all of our volunteers and the Very, Very generous donations from our Champaign-Urbana community, the Toy Shop was able to help provide a better Christmas for over 2,000 children in our community.

God Bless you all ~
