Interested in learning how to create an Alexa skill? Attend Amazon Alexa skills workshop to learn how to create a simple Alexa skill and launch it on a device. We will build the skill together using Alexa online resources. Make sure to bring a laptop. One lucky attendee will be randomly chosen to win an Amazon Echo Dot at the end of the workshop!

Amazon Alexa Microgrant Program | Application Due Mar. 3

Are you interested in prototyping for Alexa-enabled products, or enhancing your own project using Alexa-enabled products? TEC will award a limited number of microgrants worth up to $1000 of acoustic test equipment and Alexa development kits for Illinois students to use on their projects. ILEE Applications are Open

We are now accepting applications for the Innovation, Leadership, and Engineering Entrepreneurship (ILEE) dual degree program. The BS degree in ILEE is intended for engineering students to better understand the innovative processes involved in identifying complex technical problems and creating, developing, and leading efforts to provide engineering solutions. At this time, the BS degree in ILEE is only available as a dual degree for COE students, but individual courses and certificates are available to students from any college. City Scholars Fall Applications Open!

Do you want to spend a semester in Chicago and work 20 hours per week as paid interns at Chicago’s leading companies, taking a course towards graduation? Student cohort participates in seminars with experts, executives and civic leaders; site visits and cultural events, and other customized programming in entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. Founders-Startup Career Fair | Feb. 28 | 11am - 7pm | Siebel Center Atrium

The Founders Startup Career Fair (SCF) is the biggest career fair on campus for students looking for employment at startups both local and global. SCF is open to students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign of all majors, from Computer Science to Design and Advertising. Last year 22 startups and 1000+ students attended. The Engineering Open House Startup Showcase | Mar. 8 & 9 | Siebel Center Atrium

The Engineering Open House (EOH) attracts around 30,000 visitors and displays the projects and exhibits of all disciplines of engineering and innovation! EOH includes a Startup Showcase to exhibit newly founded startups in the area. If you are interested in exhibiting your startup idea and/or demo at this year's EOH Startup Showcase, please fill out this form. Participating startups may be reimbursed up to $200 for professional marketing material. The deadline for registration Feb. 8. The Health Make-a-Thon | Feb. 11

The Health Make-a-Thon is a full-day competition for makers, citizen scientists, and anyone in Champaign County with ideas for improving human health. A panel of experts from the University of Illinois and beyond will review submissions and choose the best. Finalists will pitch their ideas for a chance to win $10,000 in Health Maker Lab resources to create a real prototype of their idea. Idea submissions will open on Feb. 11. Ever wonder what it’s like to create your own startup? Join Campus1871 for a unique, insider startup experience and collaborate with other students and local entrepreneurs to learn how to build a business strategy and build out a product. The weekend will include Startup 101 crash courses, keynote speakers, mentorship, pitches, and a grand prize for the winning team! The purpose of Campus 1871 is to provide students with an opportunity to simulate the experience of building and running their own business. The Royal Academy of Engineering is inviting university teams to participate in the Global Grand Challenges Summit Competition 2019, a program of challenge-led innovation, design and business development, culminating in the opportunity for teams to attend a Collaboration Lab event and the Global Grand Challenges Summit in London, UK, September 12-18, 2019.

The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) provides students and faculty with the skills, resources, and experiences necessary to become successful innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. TEC is hiring a video intern for the Spring '19 semester (could be extended),  and a photography intern for Fall '19/Spring '20 semester. These are paid internships and pay rate is commensurate with experience.
