CCIL SEED FUNDING PROGRAM

CCIL Seed Grants Awarded
The Cancer Center at Illinois Seed Grant Program fosters collaborations that reach across the engineering–biology continuum and leverages research results for future external multi-PI grants related to cancer. This year, the CCIL received 19 applications and reviewed them following a process similar to one used by the NIH. Four projects were awarded CCIL Seed Grants and nine earned CCIL Planning Grants. CCIL Member Elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Catherine Murphy, professor of chemistry, has been elected into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the oldest honorary societies in the nation. Elected members are honored for their extraordinary achievements in academia, business, government or public affairs. Murphy is the Larry Faulkner Endowed Chair in Chemistry at Illinois. Her research focuses on developing diverse nanomaterials for applications in biology and biotechnology for imaging cells, chemical sensing, and photothermal therapy. Read more.

 
 
 

CCIL Members Attend Coaches Vs. Cancer Dinner and Auction
Shuming Nie, Paul Hergenrother, Timothy Fan, Sayee Anakk, and Mohammed El-Kebir were thrilled to join Illinois coaches, including Men's Basketball Coach Brad Underwood, for the American Cancer Society's annual fundraiser and dinner on April 16th.

CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS

Individualizing Medicine Conference
Submissions are encouraged on topics related to precision oncology, including but not limited to: immunotherapy, genomics, precision therapy, pharmacogenomics, bioinformatics, biomarker discovery, and others. Clinicians, physician researchers, students and others interested in precision oncology are invited to submit an abstract. The deadline is June 17. Learn more.
