Sanders honored with investiture
On Friday, April 26, the College of Engineering honored CSL Professor William Sanders with an investiture as the Herman M. Dieckamp Endowed Chair in Engineering. Sanders is a former CSL director, and current Department Head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, and the Interim Director of the Discovery Partners Institute.

Microaggression presentation well received
Assistant Professor Katie Driggs-Campbell led a presentation on micro-aggressions faced by engineering students. Her talk covered the often unintentional discriminatory behavior faced during graduate studies.  The presentation sparked an important conversation amongst students, faculty, and staff about the role they play in creating a welcoming environment for not only graduate students, but for everyone. The take-away from the presentation was that, regardless of intent, everyone should be considerate of how their words may affect others.

Upcoming R.T. Chien Distinguished Lecture
Next Wednesday, May 8 at 3pm, Jon Kleinberg of Cornell Unviersity will present "Inherent Trade-Offs in Algorithmic Fairness" as the latest R.T. Chien Lecture. More information and a full abstract can be found here.
