Technology Solutions is proud to announce that the launch of the UIC Help Center and IT at UIC Website was successfully completed last month.

UIC Help Center
The UIC Help Center is your new one-stop-shop to request IT services, find answers to frequently asked questions, and get tech support. Visit the UIC Help Center at help.uic.edu and be sure to log in using your NetID and password. Logging in to the UIC Help Center will offer you a personalized experience where you can view your existing services requests, mark “favorite” services and knowledge articles, and more.

IT at UIC Website
The it.uic.edu website is a great new location for faculty and students to learn about what IT resources are available to them. It provides a centralized location for IT information, news, and resources for the UIC Community, while also serving as a channel for the IT community to obtain and exchange information.

Award-Winning NCSAM Campaign
We are pleased to announce that Technology Solutions’ 2020 National Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign that was in circulation in October 2020 has won a Communication Award award from SIGUCCS!

More specifically, our “The Dragons & Dungeons of Cyber Security” campaign received a “Best of Category” for General Service Campaign Materials. The Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) is a community of IT professionals from help desk employees to CIOs who help higher education institutions leverage current technology to foster discovery and learning.

G Suite is now Google Workspace
Formerly known as G Suite, Google Workspace is a collection of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sites, Google Meet, Google Groups and Google Calendar. Google Workspace is free of charge to UIC faculty, students and staff. Learn more about Google Workspace.

Google Calendar
Users can now choose to disable the automatic creation of Google Meet links in Google Calendar by unsetting that option in their Google Calendar settings.

 
 
 
 

New Computational Research Training Series
UIC’s Advanced Cyberinfrastructure for Education and Research (ACER) is pleased to announce a new training series featuring workshops and tutorials tailored to research community individuals with varying levels of expertise. Weekly open office hours are also available. A list of upcoming events can be found on the ACER’s events page, which will be updated regularly with new training offerings. Research Technologies at UIC Webinar
This webinar will provide an overview of research technologies available to UIC faculty, staff, and students at Advanced Cyberinfrastructure for Education and Research (ACER) to empower their research. We will describe the various high performance computing (HPC) systems available to our users, our service portfolio, available software, high performance data management with Globus, and our consulting and training programs.

March 19-21, 2020 Scheduled Maintenance
Technology Solutions will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning at 9:30 pm on Friday, March 19, and ending at 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 21.

Maintenance windows are scheduled to have the least impact on operations, and service downtime is kept to a minimum. However, certain services may be unavailable for extended periods of time due to necessary updates.

Email communications are sent to the UIC Community with maintenance information two weeks before, and a reminder email 24 hours before window start time. Affected services will be listed on the Maintenance Window status page: go.uic.edu/maintenance-window
