Newman Hall is hosting a blood drive on Friday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Swetland Assembly Room. Please consider dropping by and donating!
If you are walking at night, follow these guidelines from the UIPD Division of Public Safety:
- Use well-lit, high-traffic routes when walking on campus
- Don't walk alone at night
- Stay aware of your surroundings; listening to music or using your phone can distract you from people or vehicles around you
- Trust your instincts; if you feel uncomfortable in a place or situation, leave right away and go immediately to an area with lights and people
- Most importantly, use your common sense!
If you find yourself in a situation where you need transport, take advantage of two free services provided for the campus community, SafeWalks and SafeRides.
SafeWalks is a courtesy service provided to University of Illinois students, faculty, or staff so that they do not have to walk alone within the campus area. Contact them at (217) 333-1216. Note: Please give at least 15 minutes notice.
SafeRides is an MTD service that provides safe transportation for individuals who are generally traveling alone when no other means of safe transportation is available. Contact them at (217) 265-7433.
SafeRides and SafeWalks contact information is also on the back of your i-card!
More than 50% of college sexual assaults occur in either August, September, October, or November, and students are at an increased risk of sexual assault during the first few months of their first semester in college. To report an incident, learn about ways to support someone who has been assaulted, talk to someone about sexual assault, or even if you're not sure what to do, visit http://wecare.illinois.edu/.
