Campus Recreation welcomes back all students, faculty, and staff to campus to start the 2019-20 school year! Please see below for a full list of the many exciting Welcome Week events.
The University will welcome over 7,000 new students starting August 20 with the primary move-in day on Thursday, August 22. The events during the week do have some effect on Campus Recreation facilities and operations:
Thursday, August 22
ARC is open from 4-9 pm, as well as the Outdoor Center Playfields. Ice Arena is open for I Skate from 5:30-7:30. All other facilities are closed for the day.

After a long day of moving in, there is nothing better than to cool off at the coolest place on campus! Bring your friends to the Ice Arena
to cool off with fellow Illini! Admission and skate rental will be FREE. FREE pizza, giveaways and more!
Many of the streets around the ARC and CRCE will be affected with move-in traffic. Please plan for delays and slow travel. It is highly recommended to ride a bike or take the MTD.
ARC: The parking lot next to the ARC (E-24) will have limited parking due to move-in. Parking along Peabody will not be allowed due to move-in. Peabody will be a one-way from Fourth Street to First Street all day during move-in.
Friday, August 23
The ARC facility will operate from 4-9 pm; Campus Recreation student employees will be training all day. All other facilities will remain closed for the day.
Kirby and Peabody from First St. and Fourth St. will be closed from 9:30 am-12:30 pm for New Student Convocation and Student Affairs Welcome Celebration traffic. First Street will be closed between Kirby Ave. and Peabody Dr., starting at 11:15 am.
Saturday, August 24
The ARC will be open from 11 am-9 pm on Saturday, August 24, for Illini Frenzy. CRCE will be CLOSED.
ARC 11 am-2 pm
Enjoy an afternoon filled with free food, t-shirts, giveaways, and more at the ARC on Saturday, August 24, from 11 am-2 pm. Campus Recreation will be hosting Illini Frenzy for students, faculty, and staff to see what businesses and vendors are available within the community. Expect to see 25 vendors giving away free food, swag, giveaways and more! Get a henna tattoo, win exciting prizes at Bingo, kayak race, or get a drawing done by a Speed Sketch Artist. Don't miss out on this free event!
Sunday, August 25
ARC and CRCE are open from 11 am-11pm. The Outdoor Center Playfields are open from 11 am-10 pm. The Ice Arena has a public skate from 1:30-4 pm. All other facilities are closed.
Main Quad - Noon-4 pm
With hundreds of student organizations gathered on the Quad, join this crazy event for some free food, live performances by the Marching Illini and other organizations, giveaways, and more. Find where you belong at this year's Quad Day.
