The Illinois Early Learning Project Staff will be at the Sharing a Vision Conference from October 3–4 in East Peoria, IL. Come visit us in the exhibit hall to pick up graphic tip sheets and talk to our team about your ideas for new resources. Join our team for two interactive sessions on Thursday, October 3: “Messes, Music, and Make-Believe,” which focuses on high-quality arts experiences for young children, and “BYOT: Build Your Own Tool Kit of Inclusion Resources,” with our friends from the Illinois Early Intervention Clearinghouse.

Encourage Consistent Attendance in Preschool
ABC with kids playing on letters

Young children benefit from consistent attendance in early childhood classrooms. Our Preschool Attendance Tool Kit contains ideas to help families develop consistent routines and positive attendance patterns. The resources in the tool kit are organized by season of the year to help you encourage attendance all year long.

Benchmark Videos Provide Strategies for Building Language Skills

Our new videos Maybe We Can Make a Road and Lots of Dandelions demonstrate how teachers and caregivers can introduce vocabulary in the context of playtime. IEL benchmark videos are free to use during family engagement and professional development programs for early care and education staff members and families. In addition, the videos include explanations of how children in the videos meet various benchmarks in the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards.

Data, Maps Provide Snapshot of Early Childhood in Illinois

Another partner of the Illinois Early Learning Project in the Early Childhood Collective at the University of Illinois is the Illinois Early Childhood Asset Map. IECAM provides early childhood data and maps to inform communities and strengthen policy in Illinois. Start exploring the Illinois early childhood landscape by visiting the IECAM website. There, you will find all sorts of data search options and cool new features such as New Data Visualizations and Maps.
