October 2019

From the AITS Time Capsule: 1993

The Integrated Circuit newsletter was created to serve the administrative computing community of the University of Illinois. Individuals were encouraged to submit ideas and articles using a 5 1/4" floppy disk.

It was announced that beginning Spring of 1994, UIC students could register for their classes using a touch-tone phone! This same type of technology was used to transfer funds between bank accounts, check stock prices, and place orders from catalogs.

Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA)

University policy requires academic staff to disclose and obtain prior approval for non-university income producing activities. The annual reporting process is not intended to discourage external activities, but is designed to measure and monitor potential conflicts that may result from these activities. An electronic application, START myDisclosures, will be used again this year to streamline the reporting process. Please submit your RNUA using the START myDisclosures system by Monday, October 7.

Additional information about the RNUA process is available through the links below.

Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD)

Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD) is our workplace giving campaign! It’s one of the easiest and most effective ways for you to support your favorite causes. The 2019 campaign is in full force and AITS needs your help to meet our goal! The drive has already begun and concludes on Friday, November 8.

Our goal as a University this year is to collect $1.5 million and have 25% participation by our employees. The goal for AITS is $22,405.96. AITS welcomes your help in achieving our goal! Together, we can make an incredible impact.

Consider the impact a donation makes and how far your dollars go:

  • $2 per pay period can plant 50 trees to help reduce carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.
  • $10 per pay period provides gold, silver and bronze medals to Special Olympics athletes.
  • Your $100 donation will fund research toward a cure for cancer.

If you have questions, would like help completing forms, want more information or need assistance in making your contribution to CCFD, please contact Marie Buckhanon at kreoger@uillinois.edu!
