Last week's langauge events in GH 308

Dear Faculty, Lecturers and TAs,

We were proud to help host Italian high school students from Ridgewood High School in Norridge, Illinois last week. Congratulations to Italian for organizing a great event!

Special event next week: French graduate students invite you to a FREE French cooking class: learn to make stuffed tomatoes! No French knowledge necessary, but bring your appetite! Monday, October 14, 3-4, 308 GH.

Spanish peer tutors start soon! Along with apprentice French, German, and Italian tutors, they are practicing their skills and looking forward to meeting your BLP students. Please publicize: lclc.uic.edu/peer-tutoring.

Join us for a workshop on creating (or having students create) Google site websites: it's very easy and encourages students to use their creativity as well as their language and analytical skills.

Questions or ideas? Contact us at lclc@uic.edu.

UIC LCLC social media! Encourage your students and colleagues to check out the UIC Language and Culture Learning Center Facebook page and Instagram and Twitter feeds. Stay up-to-date with LCLC happenings. Promoting our pages is a good way to ensure your students know about your conversation hour or film series.

LCLC Weekly Workshop: Creating Your Google Site
Week of October 7th-11th

More and more instructors are making the transition from the PDF syllabus to the online syllabus, from powerpoint lectures to class materials available on the web. The benefits of making materials available online are numerous, including fewer downloads, easier login, increased accessibility, design leeway and visual appeal. But how to start? Google Sites offers convenient way to make materials available to students online in addition to using traditional learning technology such as Blackboard. Although Google Sites is a relatively easy-to-use and flexible platform, we are happy to help you navigate the intricacies of laying out the site and adding as well as embedding content. Stop by one of our workshops this week to learn how to set up a Google Sites for your course! Bring your ideas and let's brainstorm!
