From the AITS Time Capsule: 1997

The Integrated Circuit newsletter was created to serve the administrative computing community of the University of Illinois. Individuals were encouraged to submit ideas and articles using a 5 1/4" floppy disk.

In November 1997, AITS began strategizing about upcoming system problems that would be unique to the turning of the century, the 2000s. Below is a list of initiatives AITS compiled to help combat "year 2000 problems".

What's New?

Policy on Conflicts of Commitment and Interest (COCI) for Civil Service Employees

University policy requires employees to disclose activities that may present a potential conflict with their University roles and responsibilities. This is outlined in Rule 16.01 of the Policy and Rules for Civil Service Staff.  The policy makes every effort to balance the integrity and interests of staff with that of the University. If you are a Civil Service employee and you have an income producing activity outside of your position at the University, or if you have a relationship with an entity that conducts business with the University, you are required to disclose these commitments.

If you have potential conflicts to disclose, please submit the Disclosure Form for Civil Service Employees that can be found at
https://www.vpaa.uillinois.edu/rnua/civil_service. Completed forms should be submitted to your supervisor for approval, and then sent to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (a scanned or pdf version can be emailed to ua-rnua-coci@uillinois.edu or hard copy may be mailed to Sarah Zehr at 506 S. Wright, 377 HAB, MC-348, Urbana, IL 61801).

More information is available online through the link and you can review copies of the conflict of commitment and interest policies at https://www.vpaa.uillinois.edu/rnua/coci_policy.

OVP Thanksgiving Meal Drive

Thank you SO much for all of your generous donations, AITS! This years goal was to donate 50 meals and we absolutely destroyed that goal. Through your giving, Social Committee collected 110 Thanksgiving Meals for local families in need!

We are grateful that AITS is always so willing to give back to the community. Can't wait to see what we're able to donate next year!

Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD) Final Update

Each year, AITS participates in the workplace giving campaign, Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD). The university goal was to collect $1.5 million and have 25% of Urbana campus employees participate. AITS contributed $14,688.35 of that goal and had 25.25% of our employees give.

Thank you, AITS for helping make this a successful CCFD. Let's see our giving grow even more next year!

Distinguished Employee Leadership and Team Award (DELTA)

The award annually recognizes System Offices employees and project teams for their exceptional accomplishments, service and dedication to the University of Illinois System. Employees will be awarded with a commemorative trophy, certificate, and a monetary award at an awards ceremony in April 2020. DELTA nominations must be submitted no later than Monday, January 6, 2020.

Ten AITS employees were recognized as 2019 DELTA award winners and we still have so many incredible teams and individuals to recognize!  Keep in mind that if you're doing the legwork of submitting a DELTA award nomination, you can submit the same nomination for the AITS Excellence Awards since requirements for both awards are similar.

Further details on this program, including eligibility information, nomination procedures, and a link to the online nomination application, can be found by visiting the DELTA page on the System Human Resource Services website under the Employee Development and Engagement tab. If you have any questions about the DELTA program, or need assistance submitting a nomination, please send inquiries and comments to DeltaAward@uillinois.edu.
