Last Week's International Education Week events in GH 308

Dear Faculty, Lecturers and TAs,

LCLC was happy to host a wide variety of International Education Week events this week.  Check out photos of all the events here. Crowds of students attended the LCLC events on East Asian Calligraphy, Arab Heritage and Art, My UIC Language Story, the 30-year Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall event, Global Internships, and the Still-Life drawing class.  Thanks to the Office of International Affairs and to the individual departments for sponsorship!  And of course huge thanks to the planners and hosts of all these events!

Do you speak or understand more than one language?  At the My UIC Language Story, students and faculty shared their stories of growing up in Greece, of learning Chinese in middle school, of refusing to learn Cantonese and falling in love with Italian instead—and much more.  Alumni have also shared stories about how migration, relationships, and video games inspired them to learn a language. Read more about other UIC students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and contribute your own story on our LCLC UIC Language StorieS page:  https://lclc.uic.edu/event/uic-language-stories/

Peer tutors:  we're recruiting new peer tutors for Spring 2020. Any of your Spanish, French, German, or Italian students who have a B or A in 104 or above can find all application information here: https://lclc.uic.edu/peer-tutoring/apply/
or contact me directly at edweber@uic.edu.

Next week is Thanksgiving, so please check our events calendar to verify when/if events are being held: https://lclc.uic.edu/event/schedule-of-events-in-gh-308/

LCLC Weekly Workshop: Back to Basics with Blackboard
Week of November 25th-29th

GH 301

Weekly Workshop:
Blackboard Basics As we prepare to roll over from one semester (and year!) to another, we must also be ready to develop, organize, and optimize the Blackboard course sites for the classes we teach. If you have any questions—major or minor, general or specific—about all that Blackboard and its numerous features have to offer, then now is the time to visit an LCLC workshop! If you have not used Blackboard before, then now is a great opportunity to get a head start and figure things out ahead of time. If you've used it before but still regularly encounter issues with certain functions, or if you would like to explore certain features that you may want to implement for the first time in the Spring semester, then we would be happy to advise you there as well! Stop by and we will be happy to help you with UIC's primary digial teaching resource!

Can't make the scheduled workshop times? Email us to set up a meeting at the LCLC or in your office: lclc@uic.edu
