The 2020 Census asks a few simple questions about you and everyone who was living with you on April 1, 2020. To respond to the Census, you can mail back the paper questionnaire sent to your home. You can also respond by phone by calling 844-330-2020 (English) or 844-468-2020 (Spanish). For the first time, you can also complete your census online at my2020census.gov using your smart phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. Even if you did not receive an invitation to respond from the Census Bureau, you can still respond online without your Census ID. Visit the online form and select “Start Questionnaire.” Below the ID field, choose the link that says, “If you do not have a Census ID, click here.” You may also visit the 2020 Census Contact Us page to call the phone line to respond. Be counted!

Municipalities, organizations, and groups across Illinois are working with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association to bring "solar group buys" to their regions. A solar group buy is an education and group purchasing program for solar on homes and businesses. The Illinois programs include the 5th annual Solar Urbana-Champaign program in Champaign, Piatt and Vermilion counties; the inaugural Solarize Southern Illinois program;  the Grow Solar Metro East program; and a Solarize Chicagoland program. For more information, see Prairie Rivers Network.

The Central Illinois Volunteerism Conference provides quality professional development opportunities for volunteer managers and administrators that focus on the key areas of a volunteer delivery system including personal readiness, organizational readiness, engagement of volunteers, education of volunteers, and sustainability of volunteer efforts. Due to COVID-19, this year's conference will be online at a reduced rate. Don't miss out on a great educational opportunity from your home! Register no later than June 24!

The Illinois Coal Museum in Gillespie will soon share space with a new tenant, the proposed SyncSeed Business Incubator. “The coal museum is already a major drawing card,” said Dan Fisher, President of Grow Gillespie. “It has always been part of our plan to work with the city and the museum board to use that facility to enhance our central business district.” SyncSeed will have space for business startups, including pop-up-shops, and would help entrepreneurs in brand development, marketing, and internet sales as well as more traditional incubator services such as access to private and/or shared offices, conference rooms, reception area, presentation space, high speed internet and technical assistance. Grow Gillespie is a not-for-profit formed in 2018 to foster community and economic development within Gillespie. They have worked with U of I Extension, the Successful Communities Collaborative at SIU-Edwardsville, and others to develop their community action plan, of which the SyncSeed Incubator is an outgrowth. For more information contact Grow Gillespie at admin@growgillespie.org or call 217-825-8189.
