Winter School Break Closings
|
The Orchard Downs Preschool and after school programs will be closed over the winter break. The Preschool will reopen January 13, 2020. Kids' Club will reopen January 21, 2020. Call (217) 333-3497 with questions.

On January 20, the United States celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Day. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. There are no campus classes held in observance of this day.

35th Annual MLK, Service of Celebration

January 19, 5 p.m. Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
Since 1988, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advocacy for Justice Committee has awarded more than 200 scholarships to students attending local colleges. This year, Krannert Center will honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a keynote address and music from the community choir.

Mail Service Over Winter Break
|
Leaving for winter break? Be sure to have a friend pick up your mail or sign up to have the United States Post Office hold your mail until you return. If you leave for an extended amount of time, the Post Office may assume you have moved out and may stop delivering your mail.

Heat Your Apartment Over Winter Break
|
You must leave your heat turned on during your absence. Set the thermostat for at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit. If your apartment gets too cold, there is a risk of the pipes freezing which can cause a lot of water damage to your apartment and the building.

Communitey Health Dinner: Depression and Mental Health

The topic for this month’s community health dinner is Depression and Mental Health. Our resident resource, Ammarah Mashhood, will discuss mental health, strategies to maintain good mental and psychological health, and tips for depression. We will also serve a full, healthy dinner!
