CEE at Illinois offers the No. 1 online civil engineering master’s degree program, according to U.S. News & World Report. The magazine ranked civil engineering specialty programs for the first time this year. Instrument measures oxidative potential of ambient particulate matter

The oxidative potential (OP) of ambient particulate matter (PM2.5) has been shown to be linked with health disorders such as asthma, lung cancer and more. CEE researchers, led by assistant professor Vishal Verma, have developed an automated instrument that can rapidly and comprehensively measure the OP of PM. READ MORE

 
 
 
 
DOE funds research on characterizing concrete exposed to radiation

Researchers from CEE at Illinois were awarded $800,000 from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) to improve methods by which the effect of radiation on concrete used in nuclear power plants is assessed.  Assistant professor Nishant Garg and professor John Popovics will lead the three-year project. Online games teach transportation engineering basics

Students in CEE are learning some basic concepts in transportation engineering through online video games, thanks to a new website developed by assistant professor Lewis Lehe.
