If you're a student working toward innovative solutions, ask a mentor to nominate you for the $20,000 CAMPUS-WIDE Illinois Innovation Prize. Please note that students may not nominate other students, and you must be on-campus during the 2019-20 academic year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Cozad New Venture Challenge helps move your idea forward! Learn about venture creation, idea validation, customer development, and pitching skills from experts. Plus, get the chance to win funding and prizes! (Typically, around $200,000 or more is offered each year in total.) Dual Engineering Degree
The BS degree in ILEE is for Grainger Engineering students to better understand the innovative processes involved in identifying complex technical problems and creating, developing, and leading efforts to provide engineering solutions. At this time, ILEE is only available as a dual degree for engineering students, but individual courses and certificates are available to students from any college. Application for the ILEE dual degree program for Spring 2020 is now closed but you can continue to enroll for courses that count towards the degree. Questions? Campus 1871 Application Due Feb.7
Each year 1871, a private business incubator based in Chicago and their university partners including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign team up to create Campus 1871, a program to support innovation. Participating students have the chance to build a business and disrupt an industry through an immersive experience that will build their skills in collaboration, ideation, and problem-solving. After two days of intensive workshops, lectures, and mentoring, student-led teams pitch their businesses to a panel of industry leaders in Chicago’s tech community. The application is due Feb. 7.
