The Student Veterans of America chapter at Illinois is collaborating with the Chez Veterans Center to award the efforts of undergraduate and graduate students at Illinois who are either 1) student-veterans conducting any type of research or 2) non-veteran students conducting research with Military/Veteran populations. Two awards of $500; due March 8. View call

In addition, the Chez Veterans Center’s Seed Grant Program, which provides support for research projects solving Military/Veteran issues through establishing and developing partnerships with stakeholders from military/veteran community organizations, is funding three projects of $15,000 each this academic cycle; proposal deadline is March 27. The Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, under the direction of SHS associate professor Dr. Fatima T. Husain, is organizing the Brain Imaging and Tinnitus International Interdisciplinary Conference, an international conference devoted to brain imaging and tinnitus with international and local speakers, on May 18-19 at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. This conference will feature Jos J. Eggermont, Emeritus Professor in the Departments of Physiology and Pharmacology and Psychology at the University of Calgary in Alberta as well as other experts in the field. Each Friday at noon in 2001 Huff Hall, the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health hosts a colloquium featuring a guest speaker. Details about these sessions will be shared in future updates of the Dean's List.

Through the professional certificate program in Information Accessibility Design and Policy (IADP), website developers, programmers, designers, information technology specialists, compliance officers, educators, and disability service providers will learn about principles of accessible information architecture, federal and state legal mandates governing information technology accessibility and their relationship to the civil rights of people with disabilities, Information technology accessibility standards and more. WDWS Radio interviewed Kinesiology and Community Health professor Wendy Rogers and benefactors James and Karen McKechnie about the McKechnie Family LIFE Home project, the cutting-edge facility that will allow for researchers, community members, and industry partners to connect and collectively design and implement solutions for older adults. Access Illinois

Access Illinois (formerly Global Accessibility Awareness Day) is a conference to celebrate the IT accessibility and Universal Design Learning (UDL) activities at Illinois. University of Illinois trustee Kareem Dale is the keynote speaker. The program begins at 9 a.m. at the Ikenberry Student Dining and Residential Programs Building. Please register here by March 16.
