Summer is here and while we are adjusting to new ways of teaching, learning and working, ACCC continues to be here to provide support and guidance to faculty, students and staff.

July’s Tech Talk shares some exciting news, online learning resources, professional development opportunities, and important announcements.

Virtual Computer Lab
While University labs are closed, ACCC has made available the Virtual Computer Lab service, which provides access to the same specialized software from student’s own devices. First introduced to UIC as Windows Virtual Desktop in April, the Virtual Computer Lab service was launched to meet the needs of students who no longer had access to on-campus computer labs.

Using the Virtual Computer Lab, students can remotely access specialized software such as Mathematica, R Studio, Matlab, Adobe Acrobat, SPSS and more using a browser, desktop application or even a mobile device. Visit the Circle Back newsletter to learn more: today.uic.edu/access-software-resources-from-home

UIC Moble App Decommission
Effective July 15, 2020, the UIC Mobile App and Mobile web resource (m.uic.edu) will be retired and unavailable for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. After July 15th, if you have the UIC Mobile App installed on your device, it will continue to function but will not be updated.

ACCC will engage the UIC community in the development of a mobile strategy over the next year. We encourage feedback and functionality suggestions for a new UIC Mobile App (or apps). Please submit any ideas through the mobile app features enhancement form: go.uic.edu/app-feature-request
