As part of the continuing response to the COVID-19 outbreak aimed at protecting the safety and well-being of the campus community and keeping the university operational, F&S will be following the recommendations of Chancellor Jones and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for implementing social-distancing strategies and establishing flexible work arrangements, as necessary, to guard against community spread of the disease.
Adapting these work processes, where possible, will benefit the entire organization by reducing opportunities for staff exposure to the virus and making working environments safer for individuals who will still be on campus. While the actual implementation will look different for each area, the F&S strategy to address these social-distancing concerns includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Transitioning a portion of our staff to remote work
- Staggering work start times
- Allowing employees to report directly to work sites
- Adjusting work assignments to individuals versus crew assignments
- Reducing the number of riders to job sites
Thanks to everyone for your professionalism and for taking the necessary actions to address this unprecedented public health crisis. As the unit entrusted to provide all physical plant, operational, and critical services for the campus, we must maintain the appropriate on-site shop and departmental staffing levels to support the educational and research missions of the university 24/7.
Your dedication and willingness to persevere in this new operating environment will help the university meet the challenges ahead.
