UIUC Student Film Festival Submissions Open

All University of Illinois undergraduate students, filmmaking clubs, and production classes are invited to submit to the annual UIUC Student Film Festival. You can submit a short film of any genre (comedy, drama, music, dance, video essay, documentary, experimental, animations); home movie; or TikTok video. Winners will receive $100, $75, and $50 gift cards. Be part of a celebration of student filmmaking and creativity!

JOUR 460: Broadcast Meteorology

Introduction to the fundamentals of preparing and presenting radio and television weather broadcasts. Emphasis is placed on the gathering of meteorological information, preparing weather forecasts for broadcast, explaining various meteorological phenomena, preparing professional weather graphics, and developing presentation skills.

JOUR 460: Editorial Cartoons

The Mighty Pen explores an important and pervasive form of political/cultural speech, the editorial cartoon. The course will look at how caricatures, symbols and words are combined to comment on contemporary issues in society that reflect our culture, politics and social attitudes. Eight-week lecture-discussion class includes the history of this form of commentary, old and recent issues linked to inflammatory editorial cartoons here and abroad and the art itself.
