Flu shots (influenza vaccinations) are now available, and FREE to all U of I students who have paid the Health Service Fee. A University of Illinois ID card must be presented at the time of service. Students can get their shots Monday-Friday from 10am-4:30pm at McKinley Health Center, as well as these other locations:
Visit the McKinley Website for updated information, or check out the Flu Clinic Events Calendar to find addtional days/ locations where you can receive the shots on campus. McKinley Health Center encourages all students to get their flu shot.
Newman Shares Food Pantry provides food to students in need, and is open from 5-7pm on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of every month. The pantry is located at the Newman Center on campus. If you would like to contribute, volunteer, or even host your own food drive for the pantry, please contact Newman directly at email@example.com. Learn more about this project on their Facebook page.
Keep an eye out in your Residence Halls for upcoming Blood Drives, as many of our PCH Residence Halls will be offering their residents the opportunity to give blood in support of various community charities and organizations. If there isn't one already scheduled, ask your RA about getting one at your hall.
Did you know that approximately 75% of students report feeling stessed at sometime throughout the year? Research shows that everything from relaxation techniques to physical activity can help reduce stress and improve your health. McKinley Wellness Center is one of the many great resources here on campus that can help you manage your stress. Explore all of McKinley's stress management resources online, including information about relaxation techniques and even music to help you study and relax. McKinley will also be presenting a Time Management Workshop at Bromley Hall in October. Check the Bromley Hall Facebook page for more information.
Campus Recreation also offers a number of activites to help you improve wellness. From Group Fitness, to Ice Skating, to Healthy Cooking Classes, there are activities to help everyone find a little more calm. Want more ideas? Check out the Student Affairs Application on both Apple and Droid phones.
Want to pick some pumpkins? Hop on a hayride with some friends? There are lots of great places around the area with fun Fall activities and events! At Curtis Orchard in Champaign, you can pick your own pumpkin, get lost in a corn maze, hitch a ride on a wagon, and choose from over 30 varieties of apples in their orchard. You will also find a petting zoo, live entertainment, as well as their own Bakery & Country store- you might want to try an apple donut! Take a trip down to Arthur, IL to the Great Pumpkin Patch to find more pumpkins, along with mazes, wagon rides, haunted barn, a Wall O'Squash, and a giant Pumkin Tree.
