Dear LAS Executive Officers and HR Contacts:
Thank you for all of the work you have done in response to the rapidly changing situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Encouraging staff to work from home and supporting them will help ensure the health of our community.
The University and Illinois Human Resources (IHR) recently released the COVID-19 Remote Work Protocol Telecommuting Agreement. Please know that this agreement is a standard protocol for remote work at the university, which helps reduce misunderstanding between supervisor and employee. Although it is required, it is not intended to reduce your flexibility. In the unusual situation associated with COVID-19, our intention is to trust supervisors and employees to find arrangements that work for them.
If you are a supervisor who has determined that remote work is an acceptable arrangement for your employees, please ask that those employees complete the form and submit it to you as soon as possible. Then submit the completed form to your unit HR contact. Neither tenure-track nor specialized faculty members are required to complete the telecommuting form, nor are employees who already have a standard telecommuting agreement in place. All other employees (including temporary hourly workers) are expected to complete the online form if a remote work arrangement is deemed appropriate.
Attached is an example of the telecommuting agreement form. The form is available online (using 2 Factor Authentication to login) here, COVID-19 Remote Work Protocol Telecommuting Agreement.
The College of LAS recommends an end or renewal date of 5/15/2020 for the agreement, with the understanding that employees could be called back to work prior to that date.
If you have any questions, please contact Staci Wagers, LAS Director of Human Resources.
