Email is an important tool for connecting with colleagues and friends, but it often brings us more stress than joy. Treat your email like your data by applying data management practices to it. The following tips are ways to wrangle your inbox and give it some affection this February.

  • ➸ Evaluate if email is the appropriate method of communication.
  • ➸ Create email folders/subfolders for quick access.
  • ➸ Apply naming conventions to your folder/subfolders for easy finding.
  • ➸ Set inbox rules or filters to automatically categorize incoming emails.
  • ➸ Be thoughtful about which messages you keep in your inbox.
  • ➸ Be careful because phishing scams can steal confidential or sensitive information.
  • ➸ Remember that email is not private -- messages often outlive their intended use.
