Time is running out to respond to the 2020 Census! Please encourage your friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors to participate. Every person living in the United States must be counted. Communities across the nation will miss out on funding for critical public services over the next 10 years unless everyone is counted.

The Smart Energy Design and Assistance Center (SEDAC) provided information about preparing community buildings to reopen during the pandemic. With questions from that webinar, SEDAC prepared a question-and-answer summary. The webinar, on August 18, 2020: Considerations, Best Practices, and Energy Implications for Reopening Critical Community Facilities in the Pandemic, included presenters Dr. Ty Newell, Dr. Helen Nguyen, Robert Nemeth and other SEDAC building engineers, who developed responses to the questions. If you have a question about building modifications during COVID-19, contact SEDAC at info@sedac.org or 800.214.7954.

The Sea Grant Great Lakes Aquaculture Collaborative invites you to Great Lakes Aquaculture Day 2020 on October 10, 2020, an online conference for new and active aquaculture farmers, educators and students, and anyone interested in aquaculture. Presentations, panel discussions, and cooking demos will happen throughout the day. The day is split into three sections, including introduction to aquaculture for interested individuals, aquaculture tips and tricks for current farmers, and cooking and seafood marketing demonstrations. Sustainable aquaculture is the ability to raise and harvest food-fish without degrading or depleting the environment, in a manner that is economically competitive, and in a manner that can be sustained indefinitely. Responsibly managed aquaculture can provide growers with a livelihood and produce a nutrient-rich protein source that can help feed the world while not negatively affecting the environment. Additional info and an agenda is available on the events page. Registration is here.
