President's May Message

Hello IAP Members!

We are in the month of May.  We will be celebrating Graduations, Mother’s Day and other special events in a whole different way.  IAP will be holding elections of new officers in a different way this year.  The candidates’ bios, along with a link to the electronic ballot, are coming soon; please be on the look out!

I need your help to guide Illinois Administrative Professionals organization during the next academic year.  We have some committees that need to be filled; I know a few have expressed some concerns about serving on a committee due to time and work load.  I understand the concerns, some of the committees are “seasonal” or work behind the scenes.  We have executive board meetings once a month on the second Wednesday and I know some are not able to attend every lunch meeting on the third Wednesday of every month.  If you are interested in a committee, please contact me and I would be happy to give you a description/duties.  They are listed on The Secretariat webpage as well.  The following committees that need to be filled are: Communications, Membership and Mentoring, Nominations and Elections, and Special Events.

Humbly Serving IAP,
Donna Miller, IAP President

IAP Philanthropy Committee

The Philanthropy Committee is interested in helping out the below organizations.  We had originally planned a Spring donation drive for some much needed items for these organizations. (You know how we like to shop!) BUT due to COVID-19 we are limited on what we can do. We do know that they can use funds to help out with their current needs.  Each of the organizations have a web page and a place for on-line giving.   Please see below the links which will take you directly to the donation page.

  • C-U At Home engages and mobilizes our community to house and support the most vulnerable homeless on their journey of healing and restoration.

  • Sistering C-U provides a postpartum support network for families in Champaign County and enables them to successfully navigate the challenge of life with a newborn.

  • The Daily Bread Soup Kitchen feeds the hungry of our community regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity and welcomes all volunteers to this service who share an unconditional positive regard for every human being.

During this unprecedented time, the Philanthropy committee hopes everyone is staying in, being safe and offering kind words and smiles to everyone.

Scholarship Winners Announced Soon

The Scholarship Committee has completed reviewing all the Kathryn G. Hanson Scholarship applications received and will be making a decision on the scholarship winner soon! Watch for our announcement in the next newsletter and/or luncheon meeting (if being held).

In total we received 32 applications; out of those 18 were eligible for consideration. Those who were not eligible indicated on their application that they were attending an institution outside of Illinois and/or listed a non-Business related major; two requirements to be considered for the scholorship. We also had a handful of applications that were incomplete as well making them ineligible for consideration.

Thank you!
Penny Ames
Scholarship Committee
