Welcome, Victoria Spurling!

Please give a big AITS welcome to Victoria Spurling who has recently joined our unit as a Quality Assurance Engineer! Victoria comes to us from Volition where she also worked as a Quality Assuance Analyst! In her spare time, she enjoys playing board games, video games and reading. Victoria let us ask her a couple questions and here are her answers:

Do you have any hidden talents?
VS: I can ride a unicycle.

Meet the Cross-Functional Identity Management (CFIM) Team

In early March, TAM underwent a formal change within their part of the organization. The CFIM team was created out of need to address complex challenges that arise concerning duplicate/multiple records, identity reconciliation, cross-functional issues, functional-related security issues and more.

Though the CFIM team is new, the team is comprised of a few dedicated employees you already know! CFIM is led by Assistant Director, Stacey Neil and fully supported by team members Erin Arie, Sonya Shipley, and Teresa Woodley. This team of rockstars gave a little insight into what's prepared them for these roles and what vision they each have for the CFIM team. Here's what they said:

How many years have you been with AITS?

Stacey Neil: 20 years

Erin Arie:
16 years

Sonya Shipley:
7 years

Teresa Woodley:
15 years

What projects have you been previously a part of?

SN: Banner implementation, Banner Student and General module enhancement and support projects

Banner Student upgrades, Security Application updates and maintenance

UNIX/Linux batch job testing

Clean Address Software project, HR Front End Project, Banner Finance Training Database project, Campus Help Desk Software Replacement, Sec App Analysis Project, and MANY Banner upgrade projects

What do you enjoy most about your role?

SN: I have most enjoyed getting to know our clients across all three universities and in all functional areas.  Our CFIM work requires us to work with colleagues in many units to solve identity issues for employees, students and vendors, and building the relationships to support that work has been rewarding.

Of course my amazing colleagues, helping fix multiple records for our clients and my role within the Security Application.

The combination of interacting with clients who have problems AITS can help solve, and the quiet, thoughtful work we do to support them.

Spending the work day with the people that I work with!

What are you looking forward to accomplishing as the CFIM team?

SN: The CFIM team is pretty awesome as it is!  But I am looking forward to continuing our education on policies and processes with Banner and other related systems to better help prevent and solve identity problems.  We have amazing colleagues in AITS and other units that have helped and continue to help us meet these goals, and we are excited to keep that momentum.

Getting support from our clients on our policies and procedures to make Banner data cleaner and more useful.

Continue to improve upon our already substantial documentation of the many repetitive processes we engage in daily to resolve issues for our customers. Increase our technical skills to make ourselves more efficient as a team. Get an even better handle on the Net ID creation, maintenance and most of all, issue-resolution process through increased collaboration with campus computing centers, AITS Systems Access Management team and our own internal IAM Support team.

Sipping a cool drink on the patio while thinking of the CFIM team when I retire on June 30!

Happy Customers

Hi Alice [Jones],

We had our budget presentation with the president and VPs on Wednesday and during our discussions Laura Clower talked for a couple of minutes of how helpful you have been to her this year and really wanted to express her gratitude for your great work.  Thanks for everything you do for AITS and taking care of our customers.  It is always a wonderful experience when folks take the time to appreciate the excellent work of our people. Thank You!!

Just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the awesome customer service Raisul Chowdhury has been providing for University Payroll and Benefits over the last year, particularly with respect to International Tax Navigator (ITN).

Although I will focus on the end of the year, 2020 brought about several challenges with the International Tax Navigator software and each time Raisul efficiently and effectively worked with UPB to resolve the issues. From finding a resolution to a vendor issue that allowed UPB to correctly process taxation for our foreign national constituents to the recovery of data when ITN export files errored out, Raisul worked quickly to identify and implement resolutions.

Additionally, Raisul has worked on behalf of UPB, with the DBAs to establish a test environment and to advocate for UPB with respect to installing builds, sometimes with little notice. Because of Raisul’s assistance, UPB year-end critical timelines were met supporting the accurate taxation for foreign nationals and providing them treaty benefits when available.

Raisul’s expertise and dedication to resolve our issues is greatly appreciated.  He willingly staged multiple scenarios and conducted multiple tests with UPB to determine the steps needed to resolve the issue in time to complete year-end tasks and prepare the system for the new year.

I know that Raisul must have been swamped with other work due to the time dedicated to getting our issues resolved.  UPB thanks Raisul and your area for his hard work and dedication to our issues. My area would not have been able to enjoy time with family during this holiday break had Raisul not committed his time and skills to resolve our issues.

I wanted to take the time to let you know and to thank Raisul for his great work ethic and customer service!

High Fives & Fist Bumps

I want to write special thanks for John Tanner and his work and support for two critical applications hosted by AITS - SitePublish and uPortal. Both applications are challenging in unique ways and both are currently being upgraded. John consistently demonstrates an exceptional level of attention, expertise and flexibility in adapting to changing requirements and enhancements. Thank you John!!

I need to recognize Vince Wiley, whose work is saving hours of time for AITS Service Desk and Technology Services Help Desk.  Vince built automation in TeamDynamix that sends reminders to customers about their open tickets and gently closes them if there is no further response.  This is a huge benefit to staff who before spent considerable time daily chasing down customers and resolving abandoned tickets.  Thank you Vince!
