Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund
2020 Spring Fundraising Drive

The Emergency Fund Needs Your Help!

The Emergency Fund has been there for you and your fellow employees in times of urgent need. With your help it will continue to be a resource for you and your colleagues when crises arise.

For over 25 years the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund (FSEF) has helped more than 1,000 employees with emergency assistance during financial crises. Due to your generosity, over $20,000 in grants was awarded to your fellow employees over the past year!

Your gifts DO make a difference!

A single parent supported her child through a lengthy recovery after a complex surgery. Soon after being able to return to work, another medical emergency struck the parent. The FSEF grant paid rent for the month. This financial support brought a bit of relief amongst a string of medical crises.

Current staff, academic professionals, and faculty members who have held a 50%, benefits-eligible appointment and have completed a minimum of six months of service with the University of Illinois are eligible to apply for assistance if they are experiencing a temporary financial hardship due to an emergency situation.

One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to the University of Illinois Foundation for the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund and is administered by Faculty/Staff Assistance Services (FSAS). Your gift, regardless of size, will provide much-needed financial assistance to your fellow employees in times of crisis. Contributions can be made at any time of the year. Your gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.

As part of a safety plan, a young parent and their child left a dangerous situation where there was domestic violence. The immediacy and urgency of their need to find new and safe housing was met through the generosity of the emergency fund donors.

To keep pace with assistance requests, this year we have set a goal to increase donations by 8%. For as little as a $5 gift per month you can help ensure that a fellow co-worker in need will not be turned away.

Act now! You can make your gift by payroll deduction, online credit card payment, or personal check. Click on the link below for more information on the many ways to make your donation.
